The loose plan
Two friends, one weekend, and exactly zero agreement on whether this is a "see everything" trip or a "sit in a square and do nothing" trip. Good news: it can be both, badly.
The whole point of planning over a call is that you argue about the itinerary now, not at 8am in a strange kitchen with no coffee.
- Fri — land, drop bags, get lost in Alfama on purpose.
- Sat — Belém in the morning, river in the afternoon, fado you'll pretend to understand.
- Sun — one museum, one long lunch, one missed flight risk.
Flip to Map — notice the call didn't blink.
Where to wander
No real map here — that's not the point. The point is you just switched "pages" and the video stayed put.
- Alfama — the oldest, steepest, most photogenic getting-lost.
- Baixa & Chiado — grand squares, trams, and shops you can't afford.
- Belém — monastery, tower, and the only pastéis that matter.
- LX Factory — for when one of you needs "something a bit more design-y."
The non-negotiables
This is the tab you'll actually fight about. Settle it now, on the call.
- Pastéis de Belém — yes, the queue; yes, worth it.
- A tasca with no English menu — point bravely.
- Ginjinha in a chocolate cup — breakfast, arguably.
- Time Out Market — for when you can't agree, so you get nine things.
What to bring
- Shoes that have made peace with cobblestones.
- A light jacket — the river has opinions in the evening.
- Cash, for the tasca and the ginjinha guy.
- Zero expectation of a flat walk, anywhere, ever.
